Lulu & Eagle Springs Canoe Trip:

The canoe trip is a very unique opportunity, as we have a chance to see 5 very different types of surface water resources that are all located in 1 area.  Eagle Springs Lake is a shallow, weedy lake that has plenty of human impact due to the activity along its shores and islands.  Lulu Lake is a deep, sandy-bottom lake that is surrounded by undeveloped, protected land.  Connecting the 2 is a channel that flows through a marsh, full of cattails and other vegetation, as well as an abundance of animals.  Just a short walk from Lulu is a bog, which is an interesting wetland area vastly different chemically, structurally, and biologically from most freshwater ecosystems.  Finally, we may have time to visit a river that flows into Lulu, a very pristine and picturesque waterway.

The video to the left describes our journey as well as some details about expectations and other important information.

Canoe Trip Policies, Expectations, & Recommendations

When do we leave?  Where do we meet?  What should I bring?  What shouldn't I bring?  How do I dress?  When can I go to the bathroom?  Can I leave stuff on the bus?  What equipment will be supplied?  What and when to we eat?  When are we coming back to school? ... all questions are answered in this PowerPoint presentation about the canoe trip!

If you decide not to go on the canoe trip, you will be required to write a brief research paper to cover the material that you will be missing.  Parameters for the paper are linked here:
